“The resources are available to those who have the creativity. We all have the ability to turn knowledge into something amazing.”
–Bruno Leao

Bruno began his academic career in control and automation engineering. He went on to earn degrees in aeronautical and mechanical engineering, as well as a doctorate in electronics engineering and computer science with a focus on failure prognosis methods and performance evaluation.

Before joining GE in 2012, Bruno gained experience in his field in the aviation manufacturing industry. He developed novel prognostics methods there, and demonstrated applications for prognostics for the health of an aircraft engine. At GE, he has branched out from aviation and now supports multiple industrial businesses. He is still driven to design novel methods for failure prognostics, but he is excited by the new possible applications in Oil & Gas, Energy, and beyond. He says, “There is a lot to be done in failure prognostics, and there are more applications each day. These technologies, when mature, will directly impact the safety and daily lives of people who interact with these machines.”

When asked what makes his passionate about his research, he said "I love watching ideas transform into game-changing technology. That's the best part: all it takes is an idea. The resources are available to those who have the creativity. We all have the ability to turn knowledge into something amazing."

He loves spending time outdoors with his family, and is eager to explore the beautiful city of Rio with his daughters.
