World Cancer Day 2015: Not Beyond Us

Yesterday, Feb. 4, marked World Cancer Day, a day set aside each year to raise awareness about cancer worldwide. This year’s theme, “not beyond us,” speaks to the way my wife, Tara, and I approached our son Adam’s cancer diagnosis when he was just 4 years old. With a team of expert medical professionals, the latest technology (some of it developed here at GE Global Research), and lifesaving medicine on our side, we were well positioned to do battle with Adam’s illness.

Now that he is healthy and has completed treatments, Tara and I are working to ensure that treating, and hopefully curing, cancer is not beyond anyone. We have started a fund that supports the Dana Farber Cancer Institute’s research for finding a cure for Neuroblastoma, the type of cancer that affected our son which has an extremely high rate of relapse.

We worked with GE Global Research to produce the video below tell Adam’s story. As we mark World Cancer Day, I hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch the video and consider supporting Dana Farber’s efforts.

You can also follow Adam’s journey on Facebook.
